Érudit Terms of Use
Érudit is an app published by Nour AYACHI (the "publisher"). By creating an account or using Érudit, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
The service
Érudit is a social reading log: you record the books you read, write reviews, build lists and follow other readers. The catalog (titles, summaries, covers, biographies) is built from third-party sources — Open Library, Wikipedia, Google Books — and machine translations; it may contain errors. Érudit does not sell books.
Your account
You must be at least 13. You sign in with your email address (a link or code sent by email) or with your Apple ID. An account is personal; you are responsible for what is published from yours. You can delete it at any time from Settings: your data is then erased.
What you publish
The reviews, replies, lists, profile bio and photos you publish remain yours. You grant Érudit the right to show them to other users as part of the service, according to the visibility you chose (public or private profile). If you import your library from another app, import only your own data.
Zero tolerance
Érudit does not accept any objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Forbidden: harassment, threats, hateful or discriminatory speech, pornography, spam, impersonation, publishing someone else's personal data, and any illegal content. An automatic filter blocks the most obviously abusive terms before publication.
Reporting and moderation
Any content and any profile can be reported from the app. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours; content that breaks these terms is removed and its author's account may be suspended or deleted. You can block a user: their content is no longer shown to you and yours is no longer shown to them.
Notifications
If you allow them, Érudit may send you notifications (likes and replies on your reviews, quote of the day, reading reminder). You can change them at any time in Settings → Notifications or in your phone's Settings.
Sources and intellectual property
Biographies come from Wikipedia (CC BY-SA licence) and are credited. Covers and metadata come from Open Library and Google Books. Quotes are short excerpts of works, given with their author's name and the work's title. Trademarks and logos mentioned remain their owners' property. The app, its name and its design belong to the publisher.
Availability
The service is provided free of charge and "as is". Érudit may change, be interrupted or modified; we do our best to announce significant changes. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for content published by users nor for inaccuracies in third-party sources.
App Store
If you downloaded Érudit from the App Store, Apple's standard end user licence agreement also applies. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app or its content.
Governing law
These terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to the protections the law of your country of residence gives you.
Changes
These terms may be updated; the date of the last update is shown at the bottom of the page. Continuing to use the app after an update counts as acceptance.
